Edres “Blanche” Ayers- Fornwalt passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Caprice Health Care Center. Blanche, as she was known to family and friends, was born Jan. 8, 1924 in Leighton, Alabama the daughter of James Boston and Levency Hammack Ayers. She moved to the valley and Canfield Ohio in 1959 and later settled in Boardman. Blanche married her beloved husband, J. Donald Fornwalt, Dec. 1965, and he passed away Oct. 29, 1997.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed her time working as a waitress at Shott’s Restaurant in Boardman and the idle Hour Restaurant in north Lima.
Blanche took pleasure in many activities including gardening, reading, cooking, and going to garage sales. Her greatest joys, however, were her four grandchildren. She loved spending time with them delighting in their vast accomplishments.
In addidtion to her husband, Blanche was preceded in death by her five brothers, Monroe, Leon, Fred, Roy, and Clete Ayers, as well as her two sisters, Evlene Stewards and Omie Evans.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her two sons, James “Randy” (Joan) Fornwalt and Roy Benjamin Fornwalt, both of Boardman, Ohio, and her grandchildren, Nicole and Aleander Fornwalt, both of Columbus, Ohio, Christina Fornwalt (fiance, Jeremy Hicks), of St. Louis, Missouri, and Roy Benjamin Fornwalt Jr., of Cleveland, Ohio. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister, Bonnie Joyce Garrison, and brothers, Buddy and Hillard Ayers, all of Leighton, Alabama.
Visitation will be from 10:30- 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Colbert Memorial Chapel, 700 Highway 43 South Tuscumbia, AL 35674, with service to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Blanche’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St. Boardman, Ohio. Local arrangements are by the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
