Obituary of Edna White McKown Edna W. McKown was born on January 20, 1931, and entered eternal life on January 29, 2026. A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Edna graduated from Butler High School, where she also played semi-professional basketball for “The Redheads.”

Throughout her life, Edna was a dedicated business owner and lovingly operated a home daycare for many years, caring for countless children. Known affectionately as “Nana” by many, she found joy in spending time with her family, working crossword puzzles, and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her only son, Richard A. Cappula, and many other loved ones.

Edna is survived by her sister, Melba Hutto; daughter-in-law, Michelle Foster; grandchildren, Morgan (Austin) Couch, Taylor (Josh) White, and Bobby Foster; and great-grandchildren, Elijah Couch, Mersadie Couch, Joshua White, James White, and Julianna White.

A visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, located at 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, AL 35811, on February 5, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

A committal service will follow at the same location from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
