Edna Ruth DobbsEdna Ruth Allred Dobbs, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.  Ruth was born October 26, 1937, to the late Clovis and Edna Mae Allred.  She was the oldest of six children.  She loved to travel and play cards, especially with her grandkids.  Ruth never met a stranger and loved to talk, so much that she was affectionately known as “The Mantachie Talker.” She was an avid writer who wrote many short stories and articles for different newspapers, including The Itawamba Times.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with her grandsons, Bro. Matt Rayburn, Blake Sheffield, and Jonathan Rayburn officiating.  Private burial will be in the Stephens Cemetery.

Ruth is survived by her baby sister, Nancy Graham (Eddy) of Mantachie; her children, Kathy Rayburn (Joe) and Jenny Brown (Jerry), both of Mantachie; Cheryl Foster (David) of Tupelo; Keith Ellis (Connie) of Mantachie; and Richard Ellis of Texas.  She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Ellis; her parents, Clovis and Edna Mae Allred; two brothers, George and James Allred; and her sisters, Grace Bailey and Margaret Goff.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
