Edna Malone McCorkle of Tuscumbia passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the age of 97 ½ . Her visitation will be Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Monday, January 29, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Mark McCullar and Phillip Willingham officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Edna was a native of Cherokee and a member of Westside Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. (Granny) McCorkle; daughter, Linda D. McCorkle; parents, Pleas Vincent Malone and Lottie Burns Malone; brothers, Barnie Malone, Argie D. Malone, Berman Malone, and Spencer Malone; and sisters, Margie Southard, Virgie Denton, Tempie McCormick, Eltie Malone, and Homer Malone.
She is survived by her daughters, Frances Earline McCorkle Boyne (Allan), Brenda J. McCorkle, and Theresa M. Richards (Dale); 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be William A. Richards, Carl F. Richards, Alex Dale McCorkle, Jamie W. Richards, Phillip L. Willingham, and Mark Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Richards and Allan Boyne.
The family expresses special thanks to the staffs of Cottage of the Shoals and Hospice of North Alabama.
