Mrs. Edna Louise Miller was born March 5, 1917 for which the mid-wife was paid $2.50 for delivering her. She was married to Arthur Lee Miller who preceded her in death in 1975 after 38 years of marriage. They began their days of marriage with June, Edna’s baby sister who was 8 months old. Their mother had died just hours after June was born.
As she grew older, when concerned loved ones would caution her to slow down, she would sometimes respond, “I would rather wear out than rust out”. She got her wish. She struggled to maintain her independence to the very end.
So, it is with deep sadness, that her family shares the news of her passing from this life on November 15, 2015. But we also share that news with serene gratitude that our blessed mother and grandmother has been released from the burdens of this life. After being together, she stopped telling us “bye” several years ago when we all became very aware that her time on earth was nearing its end. Instead, she would wistfully say, “Until next time, give everyone my love.” Our family will carry her love for us deep within our hearts, “until next time”.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at Spencer.
With grateful hearts, the family wishes to extend their gratitude to Deltrice Howard for her love and service to our mother. We are also deeply appreciative of the staff at River Park Hospital and NHC of McMinnville who not only took care of her the last two weeks of her life, but they took care of her daughters, as well.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 20, 2015 at Layne Funeral Home in Spencer at 1pm with Gene Brock and Joe Moffitt officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN. There will be a period of visitation with the family on Thursday from 6 until 8 pm and again on Friday from 10 until time of service.
