Edna Lou Thrasher Roberson was born April 13, 1938, in Florence, Alabama the daughter of the late James Horace and Velma E. Meeks Thrasher.
She was united in marriage to Bobby Lee Roberson on June 1, 1957. Mr. Roberson preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1975. She worked for Ford Motor Company for many years and also worked as a cook for Southgate Deli. Ms. Roberson was a member of the Railroad United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Womens Organization.
Mrs. Roberson departed this life at her home on Aug. 25, 2016, in Iron City, Tennessee at the age of 78 years, four months, and 12 days.
She is survived by a daughter, Tonya Terry and husband, Richard, of Florence, Alabama; three sons, Tim Roberson and wife, Mary, of Florence, Alabama, David Roberson and wife, Carol, of Collinwood, Tennessee, and Shawn Roberson and wife, Charlotte, of Collinwood, Tennessee; two brothers, Bud Thrasher and Ed Thrasher both of Florence, Alabama; two sisters, Larvinia Givens and Margaret Chaney, both of Florence, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Amy Smith, Tiffany Staggs, Joe Roberson, Christian Roberson, Dyron Roberson, Jacob Gobble, Blake Terry, and Chase Roberson; and five great-grandchildren, Mikayla Smith, Jordon Wright, Emma Roberson, Ali Smith, and Rylan Roberson.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Roberson was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Simpson Keeton and Ethel Forsythe.
Visitation will be today, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Home, Collinwood, Tennessee.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors at Collinwood in Collinwood, Tennessee with John Allen Berry and Tommy Beckham officiating. Burial will follow in the Railroad Cemetery at Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.
