Edith Nell Putman Holden – Obituary

EdithMrs. Edith Nell Putman Holden, age 79, of Rogersville, went home to be with her Lord Monday, December 24, 2012. She was a strong, loving, giving, and faithful child of God. She was a pillar of faith and trusted in the Lord. She enjoyed teaching children in Sunday school and had numerous teacher of the year awards. She was a member of Faith Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 29, 2012, from 12 to 2 pm at Elkins East Funeral Home, Center Star. The service will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home Chapel with Brother Tommy James officiating. Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Verlie Covington Putman; husband of 43 years, Cecil Holden; sisters Louise Berness, of Florence; Joyce Terry, of Rogersville; brother Denise Putman, of Rogersville. She is survived by her daughter Dena G. Holden Henry and husband Glenn of Killen; son Gary W. Holden of Huntsville; brothers, Jesse Putman Jr, of Rogersville; Gene Putman, of Florence; sisters, Bobbie Wright, Peggy Putman, Doris Hayes, Verlie Rideout, Janie Putman, Freda Michael, Annette Putman, all of Florence, and Cassie Cleveland, of Tennessee; grandchildren, Rachel and Daniel Henry of Killen and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Henry, Roger Archer, Johnny Morrow, Danny Putman, Jimmy Putman, and Ralph Putman. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of station two at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Bartmess, Brother Tommy James, Brother Mike Nash and Brother David McKelvey for their loving care and their many visits.
