Edith Doromal SmithEdith Doromal Smith, age 78, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 27th at 2:00 PM at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Daniel Reehil officiating.  Burial will follow in the Garden of Freedom at Maury Memorial Gardens.  The family will visit with friends at Heritage Funeral Home on Saturday, August 27th, 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Edith was born on July 9, 1944, in the Philippines to the late Melanio Doromal and the late Rosario Mayo Doromal.  Edith was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.  She worked for AT&T for ten years.  She enjoyed numerous activities and hobbies, including gardening, growing vegetables, playing bingo and singing karaoke and was very much family oriented.  She was a member of Fil-AM International. Edith also participated in RAM Medical Mission, providing free medical care to those less fortunate.

She is survived by her son, Reynaldo (Nona) Almonte; daughters, Marissa Almonte, Susan (Jason) Thomas, and Rose Anne Fabro; sisters, Beatriz David and Bing Jaurigue; brother-in-law, Curtis Smith, grandchildren, John Reymond Almonte, Alyson Cummings, Jessica Cummings and Eryn Rose Fabro; and great grandchildren, Amelia, Alivia, Emily, Emery and Ava, numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Smith; daughter, Arlinda Almonte; son-in-law, Regino Fabro, Jr., five brothers; two sisters; brother-in-law, Don Bagley; sister-in-law, Ann Shields; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Smith.

Serving as pallbearers will be Micko, Mack, Jason, Fidel and Gary.
