Mr. Edgar Donald Poe, 77 of Florence passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at E.C.M. after an extended illness. He was a native of Oakman, Alabama, a member of First Baptist Center Star, USAF veteran, Airman 2nd Class, and retired from Reynolds Alloys after 39 1/2 years as a five stand mill supervisor.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Center Star with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronny Jones. Military funeral honors will be accorded at graveside. The body will lie in state inside the church one hour prior to service time.
Mr. Poe is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Allen Poe and Audrey Lollar Poe, grandson, Christopher Shane Poe, and a step-grandson, Josh Randall Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Suandra Juaneece Bowen Poe, son, Danny Raye Poe(Ailene) all of Florence, three daughters, Suandra Donnice Poe Ellison of Savannah, TN., Patricia Dawn Poe Bacon(Terry) of Florence and Pamela Dee Poe Tank(Brad) of Killen, brother, Rodger Bruce Poe(Diane) of Crestview, FL., sister, Edanell Poe Springer, grandchildren, April Ellison Walters(Ryan), William Donald Ellison(Melissa), Kayla Poe Crain(Darrell), John Lesley Bacon(Rhianna) Dustin Wayne Bacon(Kristen), Skyler Chase Bacon, Isabella A. Bacon, Braden James Tank, Bethany Danielle Tank, Olivia Dawn Tank, step-granddaughter, Alex Phillips Stout, great grandchildren, Gracie, Addison, Taylre, Braison, Hayden, Joycelyn, Malasha, Landon, Lane, Emma, Camilla, August, and Asher,step grandchildren, Kera and Hunter, two great grandsons and one great granddaughter still to arrive.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, William Donald Ellison, John Lesley Bacon, Dustin Wayne Bacon, Skyler Chase Bacon, Braden James Tank and great grandson, Landon Raye Poe.
Honorary pallbearers will include Terry Bacon, Brad Tank, Lee Ward, Michael Whitehead, Darrell Crain, Ryan Walters, and Tommy Handback.
