Eddie Stanton Whaley Eddie Stanton Whaley, 82, of Huntsville Alabama passed away surrounded by family on July 11, 2019. Born in Houston, Mississippi on January 16, 1937, he worked for State Farm Insurance in Tupelo, Mississippi and Monroe, Louisiana for 22 years. He spent his retirement years in Huntsville, where he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Truman Tolin Whaley and Quinn Hyde Whaley. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Johnson Whaley; his children and their spouses, Angela Whaley George (Paul George), Laura Whaley Butler (David Butler), and Paul Whaley (Brandi Whaley); and his grandchildren Britney and JB (Butler) and Luke, Karsyn, and Jake (Whaley).
Eddie lived an active and joyful life filled with fishing, gardening, working on automobiles, and beekeeping. He loved people and gave generously. He offered advice, opinions, and hugs freely. He spent many years ministering to youth by teaching Sunday school and coaching basketball. One of his greatest joys was greeting the congregation of Summit Crossing Community Church each Sunday morning as they arrived in the parking lot.
Eddie’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 13th, at 3:00 pm at Summit Crossing Community Church preceded with visitation 1:00-3:00.
