A graveside memorial service for Eddie Dewayne Thomas, 62, of Hartselle will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Hartselle City Cemetery with Pastor Mickey Johnson officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Peck’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Thomas passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He was born on December 16, 1963, in Cullman, AL, to Ethredge Clinton Thomas and Audrey Nadine Rodgers Thomas.
He was employed by The Housing Authority of the City of Hartselle in the maintenance department. He worked there for almost 25 years, until his retirement in 2024. He could fix anything and enjoyed a good challenge. He was a people person and loved to give people a hard time. He loved doing anything outside from mowing yards to hunting deer and turkey. He loved going to the beach with his family and eating all the seafood he could find. He loved taking the family dog, Abby, on long walks and spoiling her.
Survivors include:
Wife: Becky Thomas. They were married at 16 years old and remained married for 45 years.
Son: Michael Thomas. He was so proud of his son, and liked to brag on him to anyone that would listen.
Brothers: Eugene Thomas and Richard Thomas
Sister: Brenda Hoffman
Numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews
Pallbearers will be Chuck Brechtel, Tim Chaney, Josh Gilbert, Danny Hogan, James Holladay, and Brian Lawrimore.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Danny Hogan for helping Eddie so much over the last few years. They would also like to give a special thanks to Clearview Cancer Institute and Hospice of the Valley for their excellent care and love they showed to Eddie, Becky, and Michael.
