EdEd Puckett, 81, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at ECM Hospital in Florence, AL. He was a member and Deacon of New Salem Baptist Church for many years, and was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed gardening, Ole Miss Sports, and spending time and doing activities with his grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 8 PM on Friday, March 14 at New Salem Baptist Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at New Salem Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Ted Vafeas and Bro. Ron Norvell. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers include James Lowell Barnes, Greg McGee, Jerry South, Keith Puckett, Dusty Puckett, Scotty Arnold, Josh Barnes, and Phillip South. Honorary bearers will be the Deacons of New Salem Baptist Church. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Linda South Puckett of Iuka; 1 son – Michael Puckett (Rhonda) of Iuka; 1 daughter – Sherree Stephens (Terry) of Iuka; 2 brothers – Roy Puckett of Burnsville and Ernest Puckett (Tina) of Iuka; 1 sister – Shirley Smith (Bill) of Bolivar, TN; and 4 grandchildren – Leigh Anne Stephens of Denver, CO; Derek Stephens (Carrie) of Oxford, MS; Carlee Puckett of Iuka; and Eli Puckett of Iuka. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Emma Puckett; and his two brothers, C.I. and John Puckett, Memorial contributions may be made to the New Salem Baptist Church Building Fund.
