Earnest Lavern Orman, 85, resident of the Walnut Community and well known retired plumber, passed away Monday morning April 2, 2018 at his residence in Walnut following an extended illness.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Orman will be at 10 AM Friday April 6 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in The Jesus Name Cemetery near Walnut.
Born February 17, 1933, he was the son of the late Wilburn Lee and Nytle Scott Orman. Mr. Orman’s childhood years were in the Middleton and Walnut areas where he attended public schools. He was a Christian and had been a resident of the Walnut Community for over 63 years.
He will be remembered by many as a plumber in Tippah County operating the Orman’s Plumbing Service from 1973 until his retirement in 1989. His reputation was well known throughout the area for being trustworthy and his expertise in plumbing. Mr. Orman’s interest were many and included playing the guitar, Country and Gospel music farming and car racing. He was a NASCAR fan and in earlier years drove his 1968 Camaro “Little Missy” in race tracks that include Blue Mountain and Myrtle.
Visitation will continue Friday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Surviviors include his children, Eddie Orman (Jean) of Falkner, Judy Byrd of Walnut, Jimmy Orman (Vickie) of Ripley, Richard Orman of Walnut, Keith Orman (Cindy) and Amy Meeks (Brian) both of Chalybeate, twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Taylor, one brother, Leenoy Orman and the mother of his children, Pauline Manley Orman.
