DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department released a statement on the disturbance that resulted in gunshots on Tuesday, April 12:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On 4/12/16 at about 2:20pm, Decatur Police responded to a disturbance in the 1800 block of Locust St, in the Housing Development known as East Acres.
The original caller stated that there were approximately 20 people involved in the disturbance.
A few minutes later, another fight broke out and a male fired one round, not hitting anything.
Over the next few minutes, dispatch was advised that more shots were fired, but only one male had a gun.
It is believed that less than (6) shots were fired by the male.
Units from Patrol, Traffic, CID and the Community Services Unit converged in the area. One of the Patrol Officers spotted a male running from the area and began a foot pursuit. The individual attempted to elude the Officer by hiding under a house. He was taken into custody. He was identified as Daquan Langford of Decatur. Langford was charged with Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, as well as a Domestic Violence warrant that was outstanding.
During the foot pursuit, a pistol was recovered. It had fired less than (6) shots.
At this time, there are no injuries or property damage due to this disturbance.
If anyone has information about the disturbance and/or shots fired, please contact Decatur Police, who will aggressively pursue charges against those involved.”
