  Earlene Murray Barnes Profile PhotoEarlene Murray Barnes passed away on May 17, 2026, in Kennesaw, Georgia. She was born on July 31, 1939, in Gadsden, Alabama, to her parents, Early and Elsie Murray.

She will be remembered for her love of animals, “piddling,” Nick Saban, and her fierce independence. She could make absolutely anything grow and made the best chicken and dumplings on the planet. She was full of life, and to know her was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Barnes; her daughter, Sunny Barnes; her grandson, Nicholas Barnes; and three brothers.

She is survived by her children, Angie Barnes, Mark Barnes (Trudy), Sheila Holder (Brett), Nickie Barnes, Michelle Anderson, and Robert Barnes (Carlene); her grandchildren, Tyler Black (Katie), Austin Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Emily Jacobs (Gavin), Aubrey Barnes, and Gavin Anderson; her great-grandson, Aiden Black; her sister, Elvilee Argo; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Black, Austin Barnes, Christopher Barnes, and Gavin Anderson.

Visitation will be at Hazel Green Funeral Home on Sunday, May 24, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 1pm. Wally Berlingeri will officiate.
