Earl Hollis “Chief” Carter – Obituary

Earl-Chief-Carter-1448729047Earl Hollis “Chief” Carter, 91 of Tuscumbia passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015. Visitation will be Monday, November 30, 2015 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Terry Townsend officiating. Burial will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Chief was a native of Franklin County, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII and was retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the UAW.

Chief was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Mae Cole Bragwell Carter; parents, James Earl and Letha Carter; and sisters, Lois Carter, Martha Ellis, and Patricia Hyche.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bradford Carter; son, Jim Bragwell (Pam); daughter, Diane Carter McGuyer (Wayne); step-son, Terry Elledge (Susan); step-daughter, Paula Elledge Johnson (Frank); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family expresses special thanks to the Tuscumbia Police and Fire Departments, Amedisys Hospice, Nurse Abby, and their angels Tammy and Terry.
