Earl Hamm Sr., age 67, of Florence, formerly of Muscle Shoals, passed away at ECM Hospital on Saturday, June 30, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
The funeral service will be noon Monday, July 2, 2012, at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, with the Rev. Jerry Rea, Brother Jim Fiscus and Bill Inskeep officiating. Burial will follow at Shoals Memorial Gardens.
Earl was a fabricator and master welder. He was a deacon at Cotton Town Baptist Church and currently was attending Woodmont Baptist Church. He had a love for fishing, gospel and country music, and singing and playing his guitar. He enjoyed being with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Betty Jean Hamm; father, Ben E. Hamm; sisters, Bonnie Weems and Sue Pennington; and brother, Charles Hamm.
He is survived by Elaine Hamm, his wife of two years and two months; mother, Lillie Mae Hamm; sons, Riley Earl Hamm Jr. and Ben Hamm (Vickie); daughter, Samantha Hollins, all of Muscle Shoals; and daughter, Teresa Patterson (Nathan Smith), of Lexington; stepdaughter, Lisa Glover (Harvey); stepson, Tyron East; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne Hamm (Frances), Lloyd Hamm (Kathy), Marshall Hamm (Frances) and Marvin Hamm (Pam).
Pallbearers are members of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class at Woodmont Baptist Church.
