Earl Ganey – Obituary

Earl Ganey, age 83, of Graysville, AL, passed away on February 28, 2017.  He was born on September 21, 1933 in Dogtown, Nauvoo, AL.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 65 years-Faye Ganey; children-Richard Ganey (Cheryl), Debra Busby (Stanley); grandchildren-Erin Ganey Adams (Kerry), Richard Ganey, II (Hilary), Jessica Busby, Zackery Busby (Lillie), Lauren Patt, Daniel Patt; great grandchildren-Mason Ganey, Lilah Jane Ganey; brother-Harlan Ganey (Charlotte); brother-in-law and sister-in-law-Jimmy and Marie Veal; sisters-in-law-Shirley Barker, Judy Barker.

He was preceded in death by his parents-William Ganey and Willie Leeota Ganey; brothers-Eual Ganey, Russell Ganey; sister-in-law-Mariruth Ganey; infant sister.

Earl was a member of the 6th Avenue Church of Christ in Jasper.  He was a true servant to his community, caring for and helping others in any way needed.  He loved people and people loved him.  Earl graduated from Carbon Hill High School and the Alverson-Draughon Business College in Birmingham.  He is a veteran of the United States Navy, and a retiree of A&P Birmingham.  Earl went on to become the president of Ganey Stores, Inc. where he owned and operated multiple convenience stores throughout Jefferson and Walker Counties.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Memory Gardens.  Collins-Burke Funeral Home directing.
