Earl Denton Bass, age 85, of Haleyville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, May 26th, 2015, at his residence.

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday, May 29th, 2015, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, in Hamilton, Alabama. Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30th, 2015, at the funeral home chapel. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, in Marion County, Alabama.

Mr. Bass was born February 4th, 1930, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late Arthur Bass and Lillie Dodd Bass. He was a talented musician and played for several years with the Carmol Tayler Band. He and his wife, Betty, have owned and operated their Bass Country Store on 278 East, (between Hamilton and Haleyville, Alabama) for many years. Over the years, it was not at all unusual to see huge motor homes and limousines parked in the drive next to his home. It was “rumored” that George Jones and Tammy Wynette stopped in often to “jam” with Earl!

He is survived by his wife, Betty Clark Bass; 1 daughter, Tina Bass Taylor; 1 grandson, Austin Denton Bass; 2 sisters, Faye Nell Bass, and Marzette Monette; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Bass and Lillie Dodd Bass; 5 sisters, Geneva Bass Wakefield, Nona Bass Licko, Cloedale Bass Abero, Mennellee Bass, and Coleen Bass; and 1 brother, Harold Bass.

Hamilton Funeral Home, Hamilton, AL., directing.
