E. L. “Buddy” Franks – Obituary

E. L. “Buddy” Franks, 74, died Thursday, September 25, 2014, at his home. He was born January 7, 1940, in Itawamba County to Clifton and Alice Johnston Franks. He worked in the trucking business for over 50 years and was owner and operator of Clifton Franks Trucking, Inc. He was a member of the Palestine United Methodist Church. He enjoyed cattle farming and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Services will be at 2 p. m. Saturday, September 27, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Dr. Roy H. Ryan, Bro. Terry Booker, and Bro. Grady Davidson officiating. Burial will be in the Fawn Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Kitty Franks; two sons, Jeff Franks (Judy) of Mantachie and Tim Franks (Melanie) of Olive Branch; two sisters, Eleanor Spradling and Doris Pitts (Jerry), both of Mantachie; three grandchildren, Suzanne Sheffield (Blair) of Fulton, Ryan Franks (April) and Claire Thrasher (Blaine), both of Olive Branch; three great-granddaughters, Sydney Riley, Katie Sheffield, and Riley Sheffield, all of Fulton; special friends, Frankie Lindsey and Cubby Kirksey; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Billy Wayne Franks; a brother-in-law, Joel Spradling; and his parents-in-law, J. R. and Irene Ryan.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Friday, September 26, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palestine United Methodist Church or the Fawn Grove Cemetery Fund.
