Dustin Dean Fast

Dustin Dean Fast passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 39 after a short battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Dustin was born on October 5, 1982 in Salem, OR to Kimberli (Fair) and Dennis Fast.

Dustin is a veteran of the Alaska National Guard, with whom he deployed to Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division. Dustin was owner of Fast Computing and had a passion for software. He received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2018. Shortly after moving to northern Alabama, Dustin landed his dream job as an artificial intelligence software engineer for Boeing. He was a recipient of the Blazer Fellowship doctoral program in neuroengineering from the University of Alabama Birmingham to continue research and development on improving eye-activation software.

Dustin enjoyed reading, getting speeding tickets in his Type R, playing his guitar, dirt biking, snowboarding, fly fishing, camping, spelunking, and playing hockey. He was a proud uncle and hockey coach to his nephew, Jackson.

He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Kimberli; wife, Adrian; younger brothers: Christopher, Kegean, and Josiah; HIS HOMIE, BAXTER; nephews, Jackson and Bryson; and sisters-in-law, Jennifer and Bailey.

Viewing and memorial service will be held at Hampton Cove Funeral Home on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association or to Northern Alabama Hockey Association in his honor.
