Duran Champion Hill, 85 of Lacey’s Spring, the Morgan City area, died Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Crestwood Medical Center.
Mr. Hill was born November 14, 1931 in Morgan County to Zebedee James Hill and Nina Louise Myrick Hill. He served in the U.S. army during the Korean War. He worked as a Fireman for Highland Park Fire Department in Michigan until his retirement. His wife Annie Faye Pittman Hill preceded him in death on April 29, 2011. He grew up in the Morgan City area and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, dancing and playing rook. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Hill is survived by his children and in-laws: Michael Hill and Kevyn Walker, Loretta Nicholson and Nancy and Michael Cassizzi; three sisters: Ocie Smith, Elizabeth Muhlhauser and Beatrice Griffin; grandchildren: Scot Nicholson, Amy Heath, Michael hill and Angela Cassizzi; great grandchild: Cecelia Heath and a great great grandson on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife: Annie Faye Pittman Hill; his parents: Zebedee James and Nina Louise Hill; a brother: Wildes Myrick Hill and a sister Metresic “Patsy” Ann Rutledge.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday June 2, 2017 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City with Brother: Eldridge Criscoe, officiating. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery in Oakland Michigan.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Friday June 2, 2017 prior to the service.
