Drowning In Cypress Creek On Saturday Night, July 4th

drowning350_jpg_475x310_q85FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued a statement on the drowning of a woman in Cypress Creek on Saturday, July 4th:

“Shortly after the Spirit of Freedom last night the Florence Police Water Rescue Recovery Team, Florence Fire, ALEA Marine Police and ALEA Conservation Officers responded to a report of a female in the water who had fallen from a boat in the Tennessee River. After a short search a female was found by Conservation Officers floating near the mouth of Cypress Creek. The female was pulled from the water and officers with the Florence Police Department and Conservation began CPR. The female was transferred to the Florence Fire Rescue boat and taken to shore in Sheffield while first responders attempted to save her life. The female was taken to a local hospital. We are sadden to report that she lost her fight for life this afternoon. Her name is not being released at this time. This incident will be investigated by ALEA Marine Police. Please keep the victim’s family and those first responders who answered the call in your thoughts and prayers tonight.”
