DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department made a routine traffic stop resulting in the discovery of Crack Cocaine. Here is how the police describe the events leading up to the arrest of one man:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On October 31, 2014, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit were patrolling in the area of Memorial Dr SW. Officer Michael Kitchens conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Memorial Dr SW for suspicion of driving under the influence due to the vehicle swerving inside the traffic lane.
During the course of the investigation, Officer Kitchens identified the driver as Clarence Edward Kelley. Officers discovered that the driver of the vehicle was highly intoxicated. Kelley was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. During further investigation, Officers located a quantity of Crack Cocaine and an open container (Beer) inside the vehicle. Kelley was transported to the Decatur City Jail where he was processed in without incident.
Kelley was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving Under the Influence, and Open Container. Kelley will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $3,500.00 bond.”
