GUNTERSVILLE-This past Saturday, an aroma of delicious dishes filled the air at the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) / Kimber Manufacturing Guntersville Wild Game Cook-Off. Cook teams were on fire at the Civitan Park; preparing various mouthwatering dishes like Key Lime Fish Quesadillas, Caribbean Duck Roll Up and Deer Chozizo Street Taco.
AWF is proud to have Kimber Manufacturing serve as a Title Sponsor of the 2018-19 Cook-Off Series to help raise funds and awareness for the conservation of Alabama wildlife and natural resources.
Dream Catchers captured the top prize of “Best Overall,” with their delicious Friend Shrimp. Dream Catchers consisting of Anita Cummings, Kris Raley, Beth Raley and Lori Cummings will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 10, 2019 to compete for the title of AWF 2019 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion. Other winners included:
Fish Division: First Place – Dream Catchers consisting of Anita Cummings, Kris Raley, Beth Raley and Lori Cummings cooking Friend Shrimp; Second Place – Lumbee Smokers consisting of Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Bordan cooking Honey Garlic Salmon; Third Place – La Familia consisting Jeff and Cass Purdum cooking Key Lime Fish Quesadillas.
Fowl Division: First Place – Chalk Branch Hunting Club consisting Roy Hill, Chuck Cobb and Teresa Cobb cooking Quail with Mushroom Garlic Sauce; Second Place – Spices Smokehouse consisting Tee Rice, John Hudgens and Tim Wynn cooking Caribbean Duck Roll Up; Third Place – Lumbee Smokers consisting of Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Bordan cooking Turkey Duo.
Game Division: First Place – Lumbee Smokers consisting of Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Bordan cooking White Tail Quesa; Second Place – La Familia consisting of Jeff and Cass Purdum cooking Deer Chozizo Street Taco; Third Place – Dream Catchers consisting of Anita Cummings, Kris Raley, Beth Raley and Lori Cummings cooking The Game Ball.
Best Presentation went to Chalk Branch Hunting Club, while the Dream Catchers won Best Presentation Runner-Up. Representatives from the Alabama Army National Guard were on hand to present the People’s Choice award to Spices Smokehouse.
