Drayton Hayes Talley

Drayton Hayes Talley, 88, of Huntsville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 2, 2022.

Drayton was a native of Rutledge, AL and had lived in the Huntsville area since 1961. He was an active member of Highlands Baptist Church for 35 years before joining First Baptist Church in Huntsville. Drayton was a graduate of The Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API). He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars, and retired from NASA in 1998. While at NASA Drayton worked on the HEAO-1 Experiment Team, Hubble and Chandra Space Telescopes. In support of the Space Shuttle, Drayton received the Silver Snoopy Award in 1988.

Drayton is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marian Taylor Talley; two daughters, Nancy Talley and Linda Talley of Huntsville, AL.

Visitation will be held October 6, 2022 at Spry Funeral Home, Huntsville, AL between 3 pm to 5 pm. A graveside service will be held October 7, 2022 at 1 pm Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL.

The family requests memorials be made to World Song, Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union, 1404 Fairview Avenue, Prattville, AL 36066 or the WMU Foundation, 100 Missionary Ridge, Birmingham, AL 35242-5235.
