Doyce Pierce Mitchell Sr., of Huntsville, passed away Saturday November 1, 2014. Doyce was born in Anniston, AL and graduated from Lineville High School. He earned a BS degree in Business from Athens State University and a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from Birmingham School of Law. Mr. Mitchell practiced law in Birmingham and in Albertville, AL for over 30 years. He retired in 2012.
He is preceded in death by his parents Doyce Thomas and Catherine Green Mitchell, brother Thomas Elbert Mitchell, and daughter Lisa Fay Roberts.
He is survived by his son Doyce P. Mitchell Jr. (Melissa) of Huntsville; longtime companion Paulette Vines of Pelham, AL; grandchildren, Tyler M. Roberts (Emily) of Northport AL, Ryan M. Roberts of Minneapolis MN, Zachary K. Mitchell of Melbourne, FL, and Collin K. Mitchell of Huntsville; and one great grandchild Rhett Roberts of Northport, AL.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Saturday November 8, 2014 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. A service will follow in Spry’s Chapel and internment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
