FLORENCE-The Downtown Florence Alliance, led by Director Chris Stangel and its Board of Directors, is proud to announce the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Mobile Plaza Lighting Project on Friday, May 2 , at 7:30 PM.
The project was fully-funded by a $25,000 grant from Main Street Alabama which included the installation of 18 light poles and permanent overhead LED string lighting across Mobile Plaza. The initiative also features new hanging flower baskets at both entrances, adding to the vibrancy and charm of downtown Florence.
Additional support for the project came from Singing River Trail, and the work was completed in partnership with the City of Florence Street, Electricity, and Urban Forestry Departments, with strong support from Mayor Andy Betterton and the Florence City Council.
“We’re thrilled to bring this beautiful new lighting and landscaping feature to Mobile Plaza,” said Chris Stangel. “It enhances safety, creates a festive atmosphere, and contributes to our ongoing efforts to make downtown Florence a welcoming place for residents and visitors.”
Mayor Andy Betterton expressed gratitude, “This project is a shining example of what collaboration can achieve. I’m grateful to the Downtown Florence Alliance, Main Street Alabama, our City departments, and all our partners for making this vision a reality.”
Everyone is invited to join in the First Fridays Celebration presented by Bank Independent beginning at 5:30 PM and gather at Mobile Plaza at 7:30 PM for the official lighting ceremony.
Come celebrate this exciting downtown enhancement and enjoy live music, food vendors, and shopping as part of the evening’s festivities.
