A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, April 17th, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, AL and in Mobile, AL at a later date.
Mr. Douglas Paul “Doug” Malkmus, 61, of Huntsville, AL passed away at Huntsville Hospital after an extended battle with cancer. Mr. Malkmus was born in Wellington, Kansas on March 10, 1956 to Donna and Bernard R. Malkmus. The family moved to Huntsville in 1961. Mr. Malkmus was active in Boy Scouts enjoying hiking, camping and earning his Eagle Scout Rank on December 7, 1969, at the age of 13. Doug graduated from Butler High School in 1974 and from the University of Alabama in 1978. He was a dedicated Alabama Fan and enjoyed sailing and reading. After he graduated from Alabama he lived in Mobile, Alabama until 2001. When he returned to North Alabama, he lived in Decatur and Huntsville while he was employed with Technicolor. He is survived by his parents, two brother: David R. Malkmus of Hartselle and Jeffrey K. Malkmus (Kelli) of Limestone County, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers: the family requests that donations be made to the Decatur Public Library or to the charity of your choice.
