Douglas Marion Phillips, age 91 of Jackson, TN passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 in the Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN.
Doug was born on December 2, 1929 in Amarillo, Texas to the late Lonnie Phillips and Feam Phillips Thomas. He lived the early part of his life in Texas and Oklahoma before moving to Jackson, Tennessee with his family in 1966. He served in the US Army in White Sands, New Mexico. Upon moving to Jackson he was employed by Lesh Communications where he worked for 30 years . Upon retiring he worked part time with his son, Roger, at Electric Motor Rebuilders, Inc. until he retired again at age 85.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Sammie Eudora Phillips, a son-in-law, Charles Chandler, and a grandson, Casey Phillips. Doug was also preceded in death by two children a son, Donald Gene Phillips and a daughter, Pamela Sue Phillips, who died as children.
He is survived by a sister, Delores Beeman, his children, Tommy (Gayle) Phillips of Conway, AR; Elizabeth Ann Chandler of Pinson; and Roger (Debby) Taylor of Medon; seven grandchildren, Chuck (Karla) Chandler, Christina (Jeff) Chandler Schmidt-Scheble, Lori (Randy) Phillips Porter, T W Phillips, Troy (Allyson) Taylor, and Tracye (Adam) Taylor Pulliam; fourteen great grandchildren, Chuck Chandler, Katie Chandler, Kelcey DeGeorge, Trysten Wright, Gaven, Cohen, and Brayden Schmidt, Karen, Blake, Lance and Chloe Phillips, Elliot and Adelyn Pulliam; Aura Taylor; four great great grandchildren, Jayvaen Johnson, Kealan Curry, Charylee and Atreyus DeGeorge.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday, December 04, 2021 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Rev. Dr. Don Thrasher will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers to serve will be Roger Taylor, Adam Pulliam, Tommy Phillips, T W Phillips, Chuck Chandler and Mason Orr.
