Douglas John Maple, age 72, a resident of Murfreesboro, TN since 2003, passed away on September 22, 2022. He was a member of New Vision Baptist Church.
Doug was born in Batesville, IN on April 15, 1950, to Roger Lynn Maple and Carol Jean Sophia (Schone) Maple. He graduated with honors from Batesville High School in 1968. Doug also lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He then attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN.
On December 4, 1971 Doug married Cynthia Louise (Davis)(Norvell) who was his life-long partner for more than 50 years.
Doug had a long and successful career in the furniture manufacturing industry as an industrial engineer and a pioneer of process engineering. He was an Eagle Scout, an artist, a musician, and a talented craftsman. He loved to watch Bob Ross on television and even attended a class with the artist. Doug had a beautiful singing voice and often sang in the church choir. He always entertained his family on long car trips by telling stories and leading them in song.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Diana Lynn (Maple) Schantz, and his parents, Roger Lynn Maple and Carol Jean Sophia (Schone) Maple.
Doug is survived by his wife, Cynthia Louise (Davis Norvell) Maple and daughters Rebecca Jami (Maple) Rice with husband Jeremy, and Wendy Christina (Maple) Streckfuss with husband Dennis, all residing in Murfreesboro TN. He is also survived by sisters Rebecca Marilyn (Maple) Schutte with husband Roger of Sunman, IN and Kathie Ann (Maple) Pohlman with husband Timothy of Batesville, IN. Doug also leaves behind his grandchildren: Emilie Maple, Gabriel Rice, Meredith Rice, Nicholas Baggett, and Dennis Streckfuss II, as well as a great grandchild, Melanie Rae Francis, and a host of other loving family and friends.
Memorial will be held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel located at 1488 Lascassas Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37130 on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 5:00pm until the time of memorial services beginning at 6:00pm with Pastor Phillip Robinson officiating.
