Dorthy M. Lofton, 79, of Huntsville passed away Friday. Born in Purvis, MS to Everett and Mildred McMahon, Dorthy grew up in Hattisburg and moved to Huntsville in 1963. Her career started in real estate but evolved into mortgage lending. She retired in 2009 as Branch Manager of New South Federal Mortgage. Dorthy was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Felecia Walker (Greg), Donna Watts (Tracy) and Karen Couvillon (Larry); grandchildren, Peyton Ehrle (Nate), Jacob Walker (Megan), Lily Grace Couvillon, Claire Couvillon, Benjamin Watts and Sarah Watts; her brother, Curtis McMahon; her sister, Linda Rawls and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Horace McMahon. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
