Dortha “Dot” Knight, 90, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026.
Born on July 16, 1935, Dot lived a life defined by determination, compassion, and service to others. She worked diligently to build a better future, driving a bus for Snead State Community College while putting herself through nursing school. Through hard work and perseverance, she achieved her goal of becoming a registered nurse, a profession she proudly served until her retirement.
As a nurse, Dot devoted her life to caring for others. She was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Her compassion touched countless lives, and her dedication to her profession earned the respect and admiration of those who worked alongside her.
Above all, Dot cherished her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose wisdom, warmth, and love will be treasured always.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Albertville Memorial Chapel. She will be entombed at Memory Hill Cemetery following the service. Bro. Chuck Knight will officiate her service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
Dot is survived by her only son, Mark Knight; her grandson, Matthew Knight and wife Jessica, her granddaughter, Heather Knight, (Dax Fowler fiancé) and great granddaughters; Grace and Zoe.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Merrill Knight and her parents; Clarence Wesley Crumley and Delphia Bailey Crumley.
She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, service, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the lives she touched will never be forgotten.
