Dorsa Pounds Sparks, 84, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at her residence. She was born in Tishomingo County, Mississippi and was a bookkeeper. She was a member of Second Street Church of Christ.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Second Street Church of Christ, Belmont, Mississippi, with David Conley, Ron Deaton and Adam Cozort officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery, Dennis, Mississippi. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Mississippi, will be in charge of arrangements. She will lie in state today from 12:30-2 p.m. at the church.
Survivors are daughter, Nancy Bolton (Lamar), Belmont, Mississippi; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a host of very dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sparks Sr.; a son, Robbie Sparks; and brothers and sister, Fred Pounds, Cecil Pounds, Helen Yarber, and Charles Pounds.
Pallbearers will be Joey Moore, Phil Moore, Lee Pounds, Kerry Pounds, Tim “Boker” Smith, and Brandon Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Williams, Alan Williams, Jackie Yarber, Jerry Dees, and Larry Harris.
Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 22, 6-9 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Mississippi.
