Dorothy Wilburn Leslie, 89, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at her home in the Richmond community, where she had resided the last 60 years. She was born April 12, 1933, in Itawamba County, to G.B. and Annie Mae Perry Wilburn. She co-owned and operated Leslie Grocery in the Richmond community for 35 years. She also worked at the Lee County Library, People’s Bank, Citizens Bank, and the Mooreville school cafeteria. She was a member of Richmond Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook, avid book reader, and loved gardening. Her favorite part about being outside was planting bright, beautiful flowers.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Ricky Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Keyes Cemetery.
Survivors one son, Timothy C. Leslie (Debbie), of the Richmond community; one daughter, Kim Leslie Loyd (Mike) of the Eggville community; five grandchildren, Nathan Rogers, Katelyn Harlow, Hollie Marcy (Brad), Amy Dickens (Chad), and Kelly Ivy (Brad); nine great-grandchildren, Maddie Rogers, Mia Rogers, Cody Marcy, Alexis Dickens, Brady Hood, Abby Hood, Katie Ivy, Willa Kate Lucas, and Heidi Kyle.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Frank Carrol Leslie; five brothers, Owen Wilburn, Harold Wilburn, James Wilburn, Joe Wilburn, and Burrell Wilburn; five sisters, Lema McDaniel, Velda Loden, Paula Whitten, Ruth Donald, and Catherine Witt; and all ten of her siblings spouses; a special niece, Cathy Witt Pennington; and her parents.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Wilburn, Danny Webb, Glynn Rhudy, Scott Little, Brad Ivy, and Darrell Martin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
