Dorothy Nell Collins Lay of Waynesboro, TN was born April 27, 1938 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late William Thomas and Beulah Kelley Collins. She was united in marriage to Buford Lay on May 1, 1968 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2009.
Mrs. Lay was a homemaker and departed this life on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 5 Months, 5 Days.
She is survived by a son, Roger Buford Lay; a daughter, Dorothy Sue (Susie) Lay; two grandchildren, Stethon Martin and McKenzie Lay all of Waynesboro, TN; brothers, John (Dudley) Collins of Waynesboro, TN, Charles Vernon Collins of Savannah, TN; a sister, Joyce Norato of Iron City, TN; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lay was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Lee and Billy Jack Collins and a niece, Amy Pulley.
Services will be Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Laverne Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Shields Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County directing.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
