Dorothy Marguerite Baxter, 86 of Haleyville, entered into rest on April 29, 2016.
Mrs. Baxter was born on May 11, 1929. Dorothy was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church in Haleyville, Alabama for many years and later changed to Little Escambia Baptist Church in Flomaton, Alabama. She worked at Haleyville Textile and Wal-Mart for several years. Dorothy loved BINGO and enjoyed baking and working in her flower bed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 6-9pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2pm. Burial will follow in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Jason Baxter, Justin (Michell) Baxter, David (Rena) Baxter; brother, J.W. (Ann) Bankston; and sister, Lee Sabatino. She was “Mawmaw” to 8 grandchildren, Mathew Baxter, Adam Baxter, Jordan Baxter, Wendy Baxter, Shanna Baxter, Aaron Baxter, Samantha Howard, and 4 great grandchildren, Madison Nelson, Conner Nelson, Alyssa Mobley, and Aiden Franco.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Bobby Baxter; sons, Danny Joe Baxter, Greg Baxter; parents, Willie and Annie Bankston; brothers, Morris Bankston, Paul Bankston; sisters, Edith Aldridge, Oledith Oliver, Gretie Lou Cole, Nelda Neal, Dolly Ann McNeil, Carolyn Sue “Suby” Waller, and Yvonne Bankston.
