Dorothy Mai Wyatt Grimes age 88 passed away Sunday morning, March 11 at the home of her son David Lynn Grimes in Hohenwald, TN.

She was born November 12, 1929 in Yorkville, TN in Gibson County, the daughter of the late Bennie Edward and Elvie Mai Reed Wyatt. She went to school in Gibson County and graduated High School in 1946. She married David Grimes of Trenton in 1948. They made their home in Trenton, Dyer and Jackson. She worked in garment factories in Dyer for several years and then began rearing a family. She loved collecting everything. They moved to Henderson in 1977 and she worked with the Gleaners House. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Henderson.

Mrs. Grimes is survived by two sons; David Lynn Grimes and wife Debbie of Hohenwald, TN and Dale Grimes and wife Kim of Henderson; two grandchildren, Randy Grimes and LeAnn Thompson (Robert) and seven great grandchildren, Mitchell, Rachel, Daniel, Ben, JoAnn, Hanna and Levi and two sisters, Beck Richards (Nelson) of Dyersburg and Bobbie Sue McCurdy of Trenton, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David Grimes in 2004 and a sister, Frances Smith.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 14 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson Crook Avenue Chapel with David Lynn Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Yorkville Cemetery at Yorkville, TN.

The family will receive friends at the Crook Avenue Chapel on Tuesday, from 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
