Dorothy Louise Finch Burke was born on December 11, 1928 in Port Gibson, Mississippi to her parents Noble Curtis Finch and Gertrude Brown Finch. She lived in Athens, Alabama for over forty years where she was active in First Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing the piano. She moved to Huntsville, Alabama in her latter years and joined Willowbrook Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Harlan Duane Burke, to whom she was married for sixty-three years and who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dr. Lynda Louise Burke Hon and Patsy Diane Van Kirk. Dorothy devoted her life to her family which now includes two son-in-laws (Dr. Jeremy Kwok Kuen Hon and George Phillip Van Kirk), six grandchildren (Emily Hon Castellanos, Kevin Hon, Jason Hon, Melissa Pouncey, George Van Kirk, and Rachel Mathews) and four great-grandchildren (Iris Castellanos, Isaac Castellanos, Calvin Pouncey, and Eleanor Pouncey).
Dorothy passed away on December 14, 2015. Her funeral will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on December 18, 2015 at 2:30 PM. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 PM.
