Mrs. Dorothy June Kent Minor, 85, of Florence, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home. She was a member of the Church of Christ, IBC Women, and Circuit Speaker for AL-Anon.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. at Cross Point Church of Christ, with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Alvin Alston. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Minor was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Edwin Minor, and infant daughter, Linda Cloy Minor.
She is survived by her sons, Rodney Kent Minor and wife, Cathy Minor, of Sayre, Okla., Kelly Dan Minor and wife Linda, of Florence; daughters, Edwina Joy Taylor and husband, John, of Birmingham, Janice Lee Curtis and husband, Mike, of Florence, Deana Minor Smith and husband, Tony, of Edmond, Okla.; brother, Dean Kent, of Sayre, Okla.; sister, Blanche Ross, of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Chris Taylor, Emilie Taylor, Brad Minor, Steven Minor, Katy Haddock, Jeremy Minor, Rebecca Burgess, Britney Underwood, Mellany Lancaster, Bryce Curtis, Hannah Kent Canard and Katherine Smith; 16 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Taylor, Brad Minor, Steven Minor, Jeremy Minor, Bryce Curtis, Luke Underwood, Kane Lancaster and John Burgess.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Green, Sonny Hargett, Sonny Pollock, James Jackson, Darwin Bridges and James Young.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.
