was born in Waterloo, Alabama on July 22, 1934 the daughter of the late William Harvey and Jewel Viola Hinton Keel.

On June 22, 1967 she was united in marriage to Donald James Cavanaugh who preceded his wife in death on June 28, 2007.

Dorothy was a self-employed baby sitter. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Dorothy lived in Chicago, Illinois for 45 years and Hardin County, Tennessee for 27 years. In her spare time she enjoyed watching TV, gardening, working in her flowers and spending time with her family and friends.

She departed this life on Sunday, September 25, 2022 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 3 days.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Warren and her husband Jim of Carol Stream, Illinois, Patty Bradley and her husband Phil of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Sharon Franks and her husband Danny of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brandon Franks, Melissa George, Heather Snell, Jennifer Williams, Susanne Booker, Nicole De-La-Cruz, and Ashley Lopez; great grandchildren, Dominick George, Collin George, Aiden Reyna, Lydea Williams, Gavon Franks, Ariana Reyna, Cambrila Williams, Olivia Snell, Graylon Franks, Kyler Booker, Dylan De-La -Cruz, and Elanor Snell; sister, Nell Anderson and her husband Don of Savannah, Tennessee; and brother, Donnie Keel and his wife Marie of Savannah, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five of her siblings, Flora Inez Keel, Lindel Harvey Keel, Hazel Jane Keel Faull, Adda Helen Keel, and Jimmy Lynn Keel.
