Dorothy Joe McKenzie Stegall, 86, of Pontotoc, Mississippi, passed away on Friday May 29, 2026.Dorothy was born on February 14, 1940, to Lane and Rosie McKenzie. Known affectionately as “Mrs. Dot” by many who loved her, she worked as a School Lunch Supervisor for Pontotoc County Schools, where she was known for her hard work, kindness, and care for others. She was also a faithful member of West Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Mandy Gaspard (Johnny Wade); her sons, Clay Stegall (Jeri Ann) and Grant Stegall (Amber); and her beloved grandchildren: Allie Mack, Ella Jo, Maggie Rose, Eli, Mack, Caleb, Sam, Sarah Grace, Mary McKenzie, and Esther Kate. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Thornton, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Stegall; her granddaughter, Annika McKenzie Stegall; her sisters, Truman Thornton and Jean Sims; three brothers-in -law, Earl Thornton, David Thornton, and Toby Sims; and one nephew, Lane Chisholm.
Funeral services will be held at West Heights Baptist Church on Sunday May 31, 2026 at 4 p.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Chris and Mark Vandiver.
Mrs. Dot will be remembered for her love for her family, her faithful service to her community, and her quiet devotion to the Lord. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
