Dorothy Jean Melson, age 79 of Murfreesboro passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021. She was born on February 23, 1942 in Winchester to the late Floyd Mearse and Bernice Taylor Mearse. Dorothy was known for her beautiful smile and how much she enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, country music, and her little dog, Suzie. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Gladys Bradford; brothers, Leonard Mearse, Henry Mearse and Jerry Mearse; sisters, Dora “Sis” Jacks, Bobbie Dunman and Mary Adams. She is survived by her son, James Duke Melson of Decherd; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10 am-12:30 pm Monday, June 21, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 1 pm Monday at Long Cemetery with Rev. Todd Coutta officiating.
