Dorothy Jean Chavez, 85, of Arab Alabama, the Mount Olive Community, died Monday November 14, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Chavez was born August 3, 1931 in Morgan County to Ace Lee Whisenant and Nettie Irvin Whisenant. She worked in banking as an escrow officer until her retirement. She was a Super Mom and left this earth on the day of The Super Moon.
She was a member of Rescue United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children: Robert and Therese Coleman, Ronald Coleman, Michael Chavez, Linda Coleman Durham and Ralph, Anne Coleman Worley and Kevin; brother and sister-in-law Charles and Nora Whisenant, sisters and brothers-in-law: Glenda King, Peggy King Boyd, Judith and Archie Bolding; none grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; Loving Family Members: Sandra Whisenant, George Parson Jr. and Catherine and Wanda Whisenant. She was preceded in death by her husband’s: Levi Welton Coleman and David Jesse Chavez.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday November 18, 2016 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City with Rev: Jarod Andrews, officiating. Burial will be in Mt Olive Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel and Brindlee Mountain Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Coleman, Robert Coleman, Michael Chavez, Wesley Chavez, Charles Whisenant and Tim Whiesnant.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday November 17, 2016 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City.
