Dorothy Jean Baker Witherow  Dorothy Jean Baker Witherow, 89, retired Metropolitan Life Insurance Agent, died Saturday, November 9, 2019 at her residence on Brookside Drive.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at West 7th Street Church of Christ with Porter King and Randy Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.

Born July 9, 1930 in Hickman County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James Otey Baker and the late Mary Lou Hunt Baker. On March 29, 1952, she married Maston Ewing Witherow who preceded her in death November 21, 1994. Mrs. Witherow served as former President and secretary of Columbia Association Life Underwriters from 1983-1985. From 1996-2019 she was a volunteer for Maury Regional Medical Center Auxilary and for many years served as treasurer. Mrs. Witherow loved all of her church family and was a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Kathy) Witherow of Columbia; Missy Witherow Travis of Nashville; Jennifer Witherow (Michael) Holder of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Wesley (Becca) Witherow of Columbia; Austin Witherow of Columbia; Sacha Holder of Elyria, Ohio; great grandchildren, Lily Jean Witherow of Columbia; Emma Wightman of Sparta; Calvin Bruce of Ohio; Lily Bruce of Ohio; sister, Willadeen Baker Wood of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Witherow; daughter Elizabeth Witherow; brother, Ronald Baker; and sister, Marilyn Baker Thomas.

Active pallbearers will be David Foster, Joe Foster, Roger Witherow, Barry Wood, Neal Baker, Eddie Baker, Steve Thomason, Wesley Witherow, and Austin Witherow. Honorary pallbearers include Maury Regional Medical Center Auxilary and Porter King’s Sunday school class at West 7th Street Church of Christ.
