Dorothy spent her childhood and teenage years in Philadelphia. During World War II, she worked for Exide Battery, and she met Richard in Philadelphia after he returned there with an injury received during the Battle of Iwo Jima. Dorothy and Richard married in 1947, making their home and raising their family in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Dorothy was a member of Colts Neck Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was part of the church’s Forever Young group. Richard passed away in December, 1975. She married Lawrence in 1987 and they continued to live in Colts Neck. Lawrence passed away in February, 1996, and in 2004 Dorothy moved to Madison, Alabama to be close to members of her family.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling, cooking, and sewing. She loved art and drew and painted as a hobby. She loved dogs of all kinds, and she enjoyed family gatherings, especially in her later years.  She will be missed greatly by her family; we mourn, but not as those who have no hope (I Thessalonians 4:13-18).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her name be made to Madison Manor Nursing Home.

PLEASE NOTE:  The graveside service is for family only, in accordance with Mrs. Beaudry’s instructions. Thank you for understanding.
