Dorothy Hickerson, 96, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and lovely lady passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The daughter of the late Irby and Linnie Arnold, Dot was born and educated in Detroit, MI. In 1943 she married the love of her life, James Arnold Hickerson. They were married 60 years until his death in 2003. She was preceded in death by a sister, Brooxie Williams, a brother, Garland Arnold and a daughter Patricia Hickerson Hinkle of Springfield, TN and Kathy Hickerson Chambers.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Sandra Hickerson Gibson (Frank) of Trenton, Roger Arnold Hickerson (Suzanne) of Trenton, Randy James Hickerson of Cookeville and Beth Corder of Milan. “Grandmother”, “Mama Dot”, “Dot-Dot” is also survived by grandchildren, Alisa Hickerson Ewell (Alan), Clint Hickerson (Nichi), Martha Carol Spelling (Blake), Amanda Chambers, Casey Corder (Pam), Ashley Byrd, Alexis Byrd, J. Hickerson (Megan), Colton Hickerson (Crissy); great grandchildren, Landon Hardin, Colin Hickerson, Mia Spellings, Taylor Hickerson, Lexi Gearin, Malachi Chambers, Jace Hickerson and Rylie, Kaylee, Karissa, Kaden and Kyler, Carter and Cailynn Collicoat.
Mrs. Hickerson will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. The family wishes to thank everyone for the concern and kindness exhibited during Dot’s illness. With everyone’s help, she was able to fulfill her dream to remain at home until her death.
The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 10 AM until 11 AM service time on Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Oakland Cemetery.
