Dorothy Hester Jarnigan, age 86, Red Bay, passed away on Thursday, September 01, 2016 at Helen Keller Hospital.

She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

The visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 03, 2016 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, with the funeral following at 4:00 p.m. Speaking at the service will be Kenneth Baggett, Curtis Baggett, and Dean Sawyer. Burial will be in the adjourning church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel & Hattie (Wood) Hester; sisters, Audrey Grissom, Mildred Hester, Annie Mary Hester, Pauline Pruden; brothers, Veto Hester, D.B. Hester; and granddaughter, Allison Pearson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 66 years, Gerald Jarnigan; her legacy of 7 daughters, Jane Grassel (Nick), Jeannette Pearson (Danny), Juanita Baggett (Kenneth), Diane Baggett (Doug Carl), Denise Coston (Ralls), Helen Allen (Gary), Susan Sawyer (Dean); grandchildren, Alaina Ramey (Caleb); Lacey Nasman (Kristoffer), Adrienne Pearson, Karen Crow (Brett), Danielle Sawyer, Justin Leathers (Kathee), Nickolas Grassel, Curtis Baggett (Jennifer), David Grassell, Kevin Baggett (Michelle), Derrick Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Hattie & Lydia Ramey, Paul & Pierce Baggett, Autumn, Ruby, & Everly Leathers; and a host of nieces & nephews.

The pallbearers will be the grandsons, Nickolas Grassel, David Grassel, Curtis Baggett, Kevin Baggett, Justin Leathers, and Derrick Sawyer. The honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters, Alaina Ramey, Adrienne Pearson, Lacey Nasman, and Danielle Sawyer.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial to Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Cedar Creek Cemetery, or to the National Gideons.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.

Directions to the church: From Russellville, travel west on Highway 24 past Belgreen. Turn right onto County Road 21. Travel on this road until it dead ends at Highway 247. Turn right on 247, go a couple of miles and church is on the hill on the left. Turning left on Jacento Road will take you directly to the church.
