Dorothy Faye McCanless Profile PhotoDorothy Faye McCanless, age 89, passed away in her home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee on December 28, 2023.

Born on July 3, 1934, Faye was the daughter of the late J.B. McCormick and Mable Lyles McCormick. She graduated from Hay Long High School in 1952. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Allen McCanless. Together, they raised two sons: Sammy and Steven McCanless. She was a great mother to her children and friend to all. Faye enjoyed crocheting, family history, word searches, and cooking for her family. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Faye is survived by her husband of 69 years: Allen McCanless; sons: Sammy and Steven McCanless; two wonderful daughters in law: Brenda and Elizabeth; grandchildren: Cameron McCanless, Ryan McCanless, Brittany Floyd, Brandon Mabry, Karsyn McCanless, and Brady McCanless; great grandchildren: Charlie McCanless, Adalee McCanless, Tyler Floyd, Ava Floyd, and Shelby Mabry; sister: Betsy McCormick Davis (Richard); brother: Thomas McCormick (Gail); and several nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother: James Dudley McCormick.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee with Bro. DeWayne Crumley officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to the start of the service at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Faye will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Floyd, Tommy McCormick, Cameron McCanless, Ryan McCanless, Brittany Floyd, Brandon Mabry, Karsyn McCanless, and Brady McCanless.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don and Linda Love and the members of Cross Bridges Baptist Church.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers: Melinda Hodge, Hilda Pickard, Donna Nolan, Compassus Hospice, Maury Regional Medical Center Home Health, and Dr. Gibran Naddy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Cross Bridges Baptist Church at 2881 N Cross Bridges Road in Columbia, Tennessee.

Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
