Dorothy Emaline Redding – Obituary

dorothyMrs. Dorothy Emaline Redding, age 89, of Lexington, Ala., passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2013.

The visitation will be Wednesday at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence, beginning at 1 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Henry Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

She attended Weeden School, Coffee Jr. High School and Coffee High School. She cooked for the whole family, enjoyed reading, watching TV and being outside. She loved going on senior citizens trips and shopping.

Mrs. Redding is survived by her children, Butch Redding, of Birmingham, Ala., Nancy Zeigler (Mitchell), of Berryville, Ark., Dianne Dutton (Daniel), of Lexington, Ala., and Tim Redding (Cindy), of Sevierville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dawn and Robert Cooper, Roger Redding, Dennis Redding, Josh Redding, Jason and Jennifer Redding, Heather and Jonathan McKelvey and William Redding, all from the Birmingham area, Robby and Brandy Freemon, Daniel Freemon, Tiffany Dutton, Tanner Killen, Amber and Johnny Finch, Kristi and Billy Wayne Tyler Redding; great-grandchildren, Megan Cooper, Robert Cooper, Zach and Destiny Redding, Miranda and Micah Redding, Lexi and Wyatt Redding, Coby and Ashlyn Finch, Kaylee and Natalie Wayne; sisters, Christine Glover, Ruth Richard, and Bettye Jean Goodwin; brother, William Goodwin; six nieces; and ten nephews; friends, Betty Hammond, Dorothy Ells, Fay, Stephanie and Brittany Harbin, Nikki, Gwen; and neighbors Carman and Annette Howard. She will be missed by her little dog, Daisy Mae, and very special pets, Bandit and Shorty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Redding Jr.; sons, Jimmy and Steve Redding; grandson, Aaron Dewayne Zeigler; daughter-in-law, Tracy Redding; sister, Hazel Balentine; brothers, Almond Goodwin and Henry D. Goodwin; and parents, Willie O. and Lillian Goodwin.

Pallbearers will be Robby Freeman, Daniel Freemon, Tyler Redding, Josh Redding, Jason Redding and Tanner Killen. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Rickard, Bobby Rickard, Roger Redding, Dennis Redding, Michael Goodwin, David Rickard, Zack Redding, Robert Cooper, Micah Redding and William Redding.

The family thanks the staff of ECM ICTU and very special thanks to Christy and Sally and Sara and all the doctors who took care of her. Thank you all so much.
